In-field training for one P1110021interested in doing archaeology is a crucial part of one’s academic training, and participating in the Caere Excavation directed by Dr. Colivicchi is the perfect opportunity to gain valuable experience. I have had the pleasure of being involved with the project as a participant and every day was an exciting day, as new mysteries arose that kept us literally digging for more. You will be surrounded by an extremely knowledgable team that will really bring
the site to life, and when on the weekend outings to some of Rome and Etruria’s most spectacular sites, nothing beats having someone like Dr. Colivicchi explain to you the significance of a piece in a museum or at a site! Strong bonds are formed on an archeaological site, and the friends you make and the adventures you have you will never forget. I will continue to be a part of the excavation for as long as I can, and I highly recommend that you do the same too!

“The time I spent on the Caere excavation has been extremely rewarding. Every day there were new things to learn and exciting progress to be made. It offered me something which cannot be learned within a classroom – hands on experience in a truly exciting field. The amazing team of archaeologists was always supportive and I made many friends along the way. Working under Professor Colivicchi in Caere was a truly wonderful experience, and one I will never forget. Living in Italy, making friends with the locals, interacting with professionals and learning every step of the way are what make Caere such a unique and unforgettable experience.”

“The Caere Excavation was a once in a lifetime experience and I will never forget the people I met and the skills I learned in Italy. Choosing to attend field school and learn under Professor Colivicchi was one of the best decisions I have made in my academic career. He seamlessly related the history of the area with the artifacts we were finding and I finally had a chance to apply what I had learned in the classroom to these real life situations and witness the results. Being immersed in the famous Italian culture and being able to freely interact with professional archaeologists were the cherries on top to my experience in Italy. I highly endorse this excavation to anyone who wants to have the complete educational package.”

“Being in Italy with Prof. Colivicchi has been an unforgettable experience. With the Caere Excavation, I have been able to travel to many different parts of Italy that I wouldn’t have otherwise gone to, such as Tarquinia and the Banditaccia Necropolis. Prof. Colivicchi always knows exactly what he’s talking about and relates the stuff you’re seeing back to what you’re digging. This really brings it home that the stuff you dig may very well be going into a museum. The people were also incredible and I’ve definitely made some life long friends. I would recommend this experience to anyone!”
